Hey guys I made a poll yesterday about what you'd like to know about next in this series. To my surprise, you guys want to know more about the races of Forestia. Didn't see that one coming!
And don't worry, the next one will be purely about magic.
Forestians
Anyway, what is a Forestian race? Well that could be anything from a homonid(human), a feline(cat), a canine(dog and wolf), ursa(bear), et cetera. Each race has different breeds, like the different breeds of cats and dogs. Humans come in different breeds too, and are what we on Earth refer to as "races" for HUMANS, but since human is a race on Forestia for the species Forestian, then they need to be called breeds. Hope that wasn't too complicated. I'll just get on with explaining the most common races.
Ursa - The most common race on Forestia, these forestians closely resemble what we on Earth call "bears". They're often larger than most other Forestians, with more natural muscle mass. Females are usually biologically larger than males, but there are always exceptions. Ursa also have claws that they can use in combat without a weapon. Ursa are found mostly on the continents of Archstemina and Shisui, and are not seen as often on Angelon.
Some famous examples include Emperor Snowball Williams and King Scott XVI.
Feline - Another common race, Felines resemble cats from Earth. This could be anything from a lion, tiger, puma, or just your average house cat. Felines often have thicker fur coats than other Forestians, and males are biologically larger than females almost 100% of the time(with the exception to smaller breeds). Felines have the sharpest claws, but not much muscle mass. On top of this, they have a heightened sense of hearing and smell.. They also are incredibly agile. Felines are found mostly on the continent of Angelon.
Some famous examples include Edna Forestia and King Eric vi Angelon I.
Homonid - Homonids, or humans, are the third most common race of Forestians. They may be less common on the continent of Angelon, but throughout the continent of Shisui they make up more than 30% of the population. Males are usually biologically larger than females, but exceptions are much more common in humans. Hominids have a larger brain mass than all other Forestian races, and as a result they are better at inventing and problem solving. Their sense of smell, hearing, and physical strength are all mediocre.
Some famous examples include Empress Alyssa Charlotte and Terinal Frost.
Canine - A race that seems less common, Canines are scattered throughout the globe in varying numbers. Canines can be anything from wolves and hyenas to wiener dogs and huskies. There is often no variation between male and female body shape. Canines have very powerful jaws and leg muscles, making them natural hunters. They also have an extremely heightened sense of smell, and can detect anything within a three mile radius. They're mostly found in Reblyu, Archstemina.
Some famous examples include Meta Valentine and "The Valentine", a famous thief from Reblyu.
Lagomorph - This race of forestians, also called "rabbits" or "hares" depending on their breed, is only common in one region of Forestia, which is around Destral City in the Empire of New Stellia, on the continent of Angelon. Males and females have no biological variation in terms of body shape. These forestians are known for their ultra-sensetive sense of hearing that can detect even the faintest of sounds in the loudest crowds. It's also unlikely they will ever need to see a dentist!
Some famous examples include Detective Penelope Brown and GB James.
Rodent - One race that is found in the widest variety, rodents come in hundreds of shapes in sizes, such as squirrels, mice, rats, and capybaras and more. A size difference between males and females has never been recorded, since some females are larger than almost every male and vice versa. Most of them can be found on the continent of Discral and the island of Tanthrul, but several others are scattered around the globe. They're quick, agile, and cunning, with heightened senses all around. Their bodies are usually quite fragile, though.
Some famous examples include Eids Mikah from the band Max Rat and Orks Mikah from the same band.
Of course there are several other races to be covered here, such as raccoons and opossums, but I decided I'd just cover the most common of the forestians. Let me know where your characters fall!
